Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Hanami ("we," "our," or "the app") handles your information when you use our iOS application.
By using Hanami, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
What we collect
Your account
Hanami works without registration: when you first open the app, it creates an account on our server tied to a random device identifier, so your subscription and AI message limits work without an Apple ID. If you sign in with Apple, this account is linked to your Apple ID.
Information you provide
- Onboarding responses. When you set up the app, you answer questions about your digital habits — sources, triggers, and experience. These responses are stored on your device and synced to our server so the AI assistant can personalize its replies.
- Habit data. Your rituals, goals, check-ins, streaks, and tree progress are stored only on your device and are never uploaded.
- AI conversations. Messages you send to the in-app AI assistant are transmitted through our server to a third-party AI provider for processing. We do not store the content of your messages or the AI's replies. We keep only usage metadata — timestamps and token counts — to enforce monthly message limits.
- Apple Sign-In. If you sign in with Apple, we receive and store in your account the information you choose to share (such as your name and email address). Apple may provide a private relay email address if you choose to hide your email.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifier. A random identifier generated on your device, used to create and find your account before you sign in.
- Subscription status. We use Adapty to manage subscriptions and verify your plan (Free or Pro). Adapty may collect anonymized transaction data. See Adapty's Privacy Policy for details.
- Basic device information. Operating system version and device type may be collected for compatibility and troubleshooting purposes.
Information we do not collect
- We do not track your location.
- We do not collect contacts, photos, or browsing history.
- We do not use advertising SDKs or sell your data to advertisers.
- We do not build behavioral profiles for ad targeting.
How we use your information
- To operate the app. Your habit data and tree progress are used locally to deliver the core experience.
- To provide AI features. Your messages and onboarding responses are sent through our server to the AI provider's API to generate responses, and to enforce your plan's message limits.
- To manage subscriptions. Transaction and plan data are processed through Apple's App Store and Adapty to activate and verify your subscription.
Third-party services
| Service | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Apple (App Store, Sign-In) | Authentication, payments | apple.com/privacy |
| Anthropic (Claude API) | AI assistant responses | anthropic.com/privacy |
| Adapty | Subscription management | adapty.io/privacy |
We do not share your personal information with any other third parties.
Data storage and security
Your habit data — rituals, check-ins, streaks, tree progress — is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded.
Your account is stored on our server: the device identifier, a reference to your Apple ID, your email and name (if you signed in with Apple), your onboarding responses, subscription tier, and AI usage metadata. All connections between the app, our server, and third-party services are encrypted (TLS).
AI message content is processed by the AI provider and is subject to its data retention policies; we do not store it.
Subscription data is managed by Apple and Adapty through their secure infrastructure.
Data retention
- Local data remains on your device until you delete the app or clear its data.
- Account data on our server is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, it is deactivated immediately and all associated data is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.
- AI messages are retained according to the AI provider's data retention policy; we store only usage metadata, which is deleted with your account.
- Subscription records are retained by Apple and Adapty per their respective policies.
Your choices
- Delete your account. You can delete your account from the app's settings. Your account is deactivated immediately, active sessions are revoked, and remaining account data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Delete local data. Removing the app from your device deletes all locally stored data. Note that this alone does not delete your account on our server — use in-app account deletion for that.
- Apple Sign-In. You can manage or revoke access through your Apple ID settings (Settings → Apple ID → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple).
- Manage subscriptions. You can cancel or change your subscription through the App Store (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions).
- Hide your email. When signing in with Apple, you can choose to hide your email address.
Children's privacy
Hanami is not intended for children under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may modify this Privacy Policy at any time, at our sole discretion, without your prior consent. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
